Around the World

Hi everyone!

As most of you know, I'm currently staying in England for a year on an exchange student program. I'm having lots of fun so far. My host family is great and so are the students at my collage :)
They're all so nice to the exchange students and I already have many friends ^^

Anyway, because I'm abroad and because I've been thinking about the future lately, I'm having the incredible urge to travel.

Have any of you ever the urge to go around the world? Like this excited feeling in the pit of your stomach and you can't help but smile as you think about all the places you could be going.

(Photo is called Lost, Found and Lost Again, taken by NessaLuinwe check out her other amazing photo's here on her DA account: http://nessaluinwe.deviantart.com/ )

So because I'm in England for another year--and after that will go to university and have no time & money to travel... I've decided to do a little project!

I've just went to buy a big notebook. And in there I'm going to collect little maps and pictures and information on places I still want to visit ^^ and make it this interesting little scrapbook! Sounds fun no?

I got the idea from my design teacher, who showed us a scrapbook he had as a design student. It was filled with pictures and drawings and it looked amazing. Even more so because he made everything on top of an old hardcover book. I still want to try that with some other stuff :) but I need a bigger a4 notebook for what I'm trying ^^

Anyway I wanted to share this idea because it might give you an interestingly creative idea as well ^^

Some of the places I really really want to go at the moment (not really narrowed down to places, more countries lol)

Japan

India

Canada

New York

West Coast of America (okay I went there once but I want to go again)

Rome (same lol)

(omg my own photograph! Gasp!)

Venice (this is the fault of Cornelia funke and her amazing book Herr der Diebe)

New Zealand (Lord of the Rings ... need I say more?)

Romania

And many, many more :)

So tell me? What do you think of my little project? And where do you want to travel?

Please leave a comment below! :)

The Storm

One of the things that I love is the sky.
Let's talk about the sky at day. It's beautiful really and there are such few people
who take the ten seconds it takes every once in a while look up at the sky.

I still clearly remember going to work with my mom (a fair that was about a two hour drive away) really early in the morning. Hardly a soul was on the road and the air smelled fresh and cold. And then, while we were driving on the highway my mom suddenly pointed out the most beautiful sunrise.

I didn't have a camera with me so this is just a random picture from the Internet. But I still clearly remember the big blazing red sun coming up over the fields and shining at us between the trees lining the road. It was a magical feeling which I'll never forget. And I love that something we see everyday, something that is always there, can do that to you.

And then there was this time when we were driving back from a holiday in Germany. We had a pretty small car with a weak engine and it was terrifying going up steep hills. We were just going down into a valley on a highway when the biggest rainstorm hit us and it started to thunder and I'm not ashamed to say that it scared me to death.

And then there was the time when we were in England and got stuck in the mud because of the rain, in the middle of nowhere--and got rescued after a long while by the truck who got us stuck in the first time. But I'll tell this tale later.

And there is the rainstorms that always seem to hit just before school start and just after school is out--so you can't help but be soaked. And I love riding or walking in the rain--singing songs like "walking on sunshine" just because I can't help it-- and getting home, changing into my pajama's and sitting on the warm couch with a cup of tea and a blanket while the whole house starts to smell of rain.

I love the way rain sounds on my window while I'm in my bed falling asleep. And the way the air smells after the rain stopped.

And I can tell a hundred stories more, all about rain. :) Do you like rain? Do you have stories about it? Let me know!

And lastly: (because I don't want to bore you with a post that goes on for ever--which would be quite interesting though) Thunder.

My parents are the kind of people who will take us to stand in front of the window and look at thunder and try to see the most beautiful ones. So I never really was afraid at thunder. I still rush to the window with my mom and stare outside for half an hour or so just looking :)

When we were younger we used to camp every summer in all kinds of countries. And whenever it would start to storm and rain my parents woke us up and made us run out into the rain and into the car with our pillows and stuffed animals. And we would either fall asleep there or sit in the pitch dark looking outside both a bit scared and amazed at the thunder. We would always wait there till it was gone and then would go back into the tent. (We did this cause my parents were afraid the lightning might strike our tent. We were safe in the car. It never hit our tent btw. And we were usually the only ones who did this, but it was fun. There's also an interesting story involving huge hailstones, but I'll tell you about that later if you're interested.)

So the sky and the weather is very important to me and it reminds me of many great memories and stories to tell. Plus it always sets a mood of anticipation or fear or awe. And can even give you creative inspiration and ideas.

So what are your thoughts on all of this? Do you have any interesting stories or feelings about rain and thunder that you want to share? Please do!

And sorry for the long wait. I've been settling into my new home and family in England. But I'm back! And there is also a new post on my other blog wribie: http://wribie.blogspot.com/ about "Show don't tell"

Please comment! :3 You'll make my day!

Google Random 2

Yaay time for the second Google Random! I'm still feeling very colourful like last time
so now let's search some colours! :)

For those of you who don't know, Google Random is where I give you a few words that you can google for pictures that hopefully inspire you a bit :)
If you're searching for story idea's or inspiration for painting or drawing, or anything at all, just take one or two pictures from each colour. Then try to make a story around it. Or imagine it's the cover of a book and try to make up a title for it!

#1 BLUE

Let me give you an example of a story idea. Time for Murder and Mystery!! All around Paris young women have gone missing, all that is left at the scene is a beautiful blue rose. The detective soon finds the connection between the special flower that only blooms once every month--at a full moon--and the vanished women.
He then embarks on a search through the old city, following a path of flowers.
Then bodies start to turn up.......
(*insert evil laugh*)

Something like that :) Have fun!

I just love this one! But I'm a sucker for all butterflies ^^

#2 RED

( try searching "colour red" instead of red. It gives better results.)

Who is this woman? Why is she putting up that red lipstick? Is she going on a date? Or is it something else? :)

This one was just too beautiful not to show!

#3 GREEN

One word: LOL
I bet this would make a very interesting story.

A bit creepy, but highly interesting. What would happen if a tree suddenly came to life (well, became mobile, it's already in fact alive) and wanted revenge?

I think that's enough for today :) Please let me know in the comments what you think!
And if anyone actually liked the ideas I had by some of the pictures, feel free to use them! :)
Have fun googling! Green Day fans will be happy 'cause they turn up a lot when you type "green".

Random fact for fun:

The song I'm listening to now, while I was typing all this is "This is your life" from Switchfoot. It's brilliant! :)

This is your life, are you who you wanna be?
This is your life are you who you wanna be?
Is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger
and you had everything to lose.

Clouds

Today I went to a flea market with my brother, to sell some of our old stuff and that of my mom. She's a collector, and we had a lot of fun different stuff to sell.
When we drove there this morning everything seemed to go wrong. The weather was supposed to be nice for today--but it was raining (softly, but still) and when we arrived at the flea market it was very, very small.

Because we didn't have much else to do and had a car full of junk, we didn't give up and go back home (though we wanted to). Lucky we didn't!
Cause it turned out to be great fun,
the weathe
r improved (so I got sunburns.....) and I earned some extra money to take to England.

The reason I'm telling you this is because when the sky cleared up, and I looked to see if there was any more rain coming; I noticed these beautiful white puffy clouds.
Have you
ever just lain back on the ground to watch clouds drift by? I don't think people do it enough. I don't do it enough either.
But I do know that all my life I've loved looking at clouds from m
y window, or from the car and see all sorts of things in them. I can see dragons, or a beautiful lady, or a cat and many odd things, that I love to write about one day.

If you're looking for inspiration for writing or drawing or painting, or if you're just looking for fun ways to train your imagination. Or to spend a boring day: Go watch clouds!!
Take a small notebook and a sketch book with you and write
down and draw what you see. Trust me it's fun and perhaps you'll get an idea out of it!

Here are some pictures of clouds. If you can see something in them leave tell me in the comments! :)

In the next one I can see an old man sleeping. Can you see him too or do you see something else?

If anyone else can see what I see in this one that would be awesome!

Movies

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I didn't post anything yesterday, but after having an absolutely horrible morning I got sick in the afternoon and couldn't post anything.
Not feeling well did give me the opportunity though to lie on my bed and watch some movies.
And movies really inspire me a lot.
I've mentioned this before on my other blog, but there are several movies t
hat tent to get me in the mood to be creative. And there are movies that just give me a peaceful, clear feeling afterwards, which in its turn gives me inspiration to write or draw or something else.

So here are just a few of the movies that I love.
1. The Last Samu
rai

I know, you wouldn't expect that. But I watched this movie yesterday and I've watched it a hundred times before. I just love the way how Nathan changes while being with the samurai and how he finally finds peace. And I'm a big fan of the Japan
ese culture, old and new, and this is just one of those beautiful movies that gives me a peaceful feeling. (Even though it doesn't exactly have a happy ending.... hmm...weird). If you've seen this movie what do you think?

2. Bridge to Terabithia

The reason I love this movie so much (and the book) is because it's actually this simple story about two kids who use their imagination
to make their lives one big adventure.
I just love the way the movie was shot, it's so well done, while usually the movie is a lot worse than the book, I love the movie better. After seeing this
movie I always feel like doing something creative, usually drawing, because Jess draws a lot in the movie.

3. Confessions of a shopaholic.

I have the strange habit of putting on movies while I'm cleaning my room. So that I can hear the movie and occasionally watch a scene. I know I'm weird. Anyway movies like this do not only want me go shopping (lol) but also makes me wanna sort out my closet and things and mix them up and make something new out of them. I really wish I could make my own clothes, but it's also great fun to just buy funny accessories to brighten up old clothes. Or to buy cheap (secondhand) clothes and experiment with them and try and make something new and cute.

So that were three of the many movies I love. And looking back I realize they are all completely different. This is a bit of a short post but I'm stealing my mom's pc here and she needs to get back to work.

If you've seen any of these movies tell me what you thought about them! Do you have movies that inspire you to be creative? If you haven't watched them I really recommend them to you.
Have fun! Oh and tell me if you want me to do something like this again!

Google Random

Time for the first Google Random!!
What is google random? Well I'm glad you asked!
.... you didn't? ..... I'm going to tell you anyway.
(Yeah I'm in a weird mood right now.... sorry)

Google Random is where I tell you random words that you can google to get pretty or weird or inspirational or random pictures. And I'll be showing a few of my favorites every time.
Please tell me what you think of this idea!

#1: Colourful
To stay in tune with yesterday's post I thought I'd do something colourful again.
So just go to Google.com and then to pictures. And search "colourful" or "colorful" (they get different hits)
Here are a few of my favorites:

There were a lot of these little collages and personally I love them. It's also great fun to make one of these for yourself! Or on paper by using old magazines! :)

What girl wouldn't love getting roses like these? I wonder if, one place on earth where no humans live, flowers like these actually exist.

I just thought these were very pretty. If you look through them you can see the world in different colours!

#2 beautiful landscape

Imagine running into this on your walk!

Something tells me that this isn't very real.... but it is very beautiful!
Again one of those pictures you could write a story about. What kind of tree do you think it is?
What does it do, does it grand wishes? How did it get there? Does it bloom the most beautiful flowers at full moon? You see what I mean.

Talk about a sunset!

Well I hope you liked them! Leave me a comment telling me what you think! And if you searched it or not!

If you like my blog so far, please leave a comment and /or follow me! :)
